Position Description
The Vaccine Safety and Confidence-Building Working Group (VacSafe WG) is seeking a research assistant to help with data visualization, desktop research, and editorial and documentation tasks. VacSafe WG supports projects that generate, scale, and analyze actively-collected vaccine safety surveillance and pharmaco-vigilance data in Africa.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining an interactive Vaccines in Africa map using Python, Pandas, and Jupyter notebooks
- Collecting publicly available COVID and vaccination news/data in support of the Vaccines in Africa Brief and pilot project needs

Composing, editing, and publishing WG documents including monthly Vaccines in Africa briefs, pilot project documentation, and reporting
Position Requirements
- Full-time enrolled student
- Proficiency with frontend data visualization, GeoJSON, GeoPandas, and other geographic/mapping data formats and Python packages, HoloViews, hvplot, and bokeh a plus
- Background or familiarity with either public health and/or international politics a plus
Time Commitment
Part-time (ten to fifteen hours per week)
Compensation
$20 per hour
