Position Description
The Jung Laboratory at the Eaton Peabody Lab Consortium in the Department of Otolaryngology at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary is hiring a research technician. Their projects focus on the effects of synaptopathy in the inner ear and methods of restoring hearing loss.
Responsibilities include:
- Genotyping and cryosectioning
- Using immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemistry, adult and post-natal cochlear dissection, cell culture, and confocal imaging
- Handling mouse breeding and injections, general colony management, small rodent survival surgery, auditory brainstem response tests, and cardiac perfusion
- Maintaining records of research activities and controlled substance usage
- Assisting in drafting, submission and ongoing review of animal use and safety protocols
- Assisting with IRB and IACUC regulatory process submissions
- Submitting orders for animals and lab supplies as required
Position Requirements
- Looking for candidates who will be graduating in May 2022 and are interested in continuing as a research technician for a minimum of two years post-grad
Time Commitment
Full-time, with a two year commitment. The preferred start date is July 2022; the candidate may also have to work on a volunteer basis before July 2022 for training purposes.
