Position Description
The Perlis Laboratory at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA, is seeking highly motivated Research Technicians. This position is ideal for those who have prior experience in molecular and cellular biology, with a strong interest in pursuing a career path in science and/or medicine. Up to two full-time positions available, with possibility of yearly renewal. In addition to standard benefits and wages, they will provide career advising and opportunities for a motivated individual.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing bench research using cellular models of neuropsychiatric illnesses derived from human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSCs)
  • Culturing and maintaining cell/tissue culture lines using aseptic techniques, molecular and cellular biology experimentation
  • Ordering and purchasing lab materials, administrative forms, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences (i.e. molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry), neurosciences, or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of basic laboratory experience in a cellular or molecular biology laboratory
  • Prior experience in cell or tissue culture techniques a plus
  • If no prior cell culture experience, comparable experiences in basic laboratory research in a related field (i.e. developmental biology research in a laboratory working with model organisms) a plus if skilled in biochemical experimentations such as Western blots, PCRs, immunohistochemical staining protocols, etc.

Time Commitment
Full-time, with at least a one-year commitment. Priority will be given to applicants who can commit two years.

Compensation
$15/hr
