Position Description
A laboratory that studies gene expression in fission yeast and human cells at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine is looking to hire a Research Technician.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing yeast cell work
  • Performing tissue culture work
  • Performing various standard biochemical, molecular biology, and cell biology experiments in yeast and human cells
  • Purifying proteins from bacteria, yeast, and human cells
  • Performing experiments to study protein-protein and protein-nucleic acid interaction
  • Performing experiments related to studying protein chemistry
  • Isolating DNA from bacterial, yeast, and human cells
  • Performing PCR, gene cloning, and DNA gel electrophoresis
  • Preparing common lab reagents.
  • Ordering, receiving, storing lab reagents and supplies, and maintaining inventories

Position Requirements

  • Bachelors in a related science or equivalent skills and experience required. M.S. strongly preferred.
  • 0-2 years experience required, 1 to 2 years in general lab work and cell culture a plus
  • Background in Molecular Biology a plus
  • Must be able to calculate concentrations and prepare reagents correctly
  • Organizational skills, detailed oriented, record keeping, and initiative required
