Position Description
A laboratory that studies gene expression in fission yeast and human cells at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine is looking to hire a Research Technician.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing yeast cell work
- Performing tissue culture work
- Performing various standard biochemical, molecular biology, and cell biology experiments in yeast and human cells
- Purifying proteins from bacteria, yeast, and human cells
- Performing experiments to study protein-protein and protein-nucleic acid interaction
- Performing experiments related to studying protein chemistry
- Isolating DNA from bacterial, yeast, and human cells
- Performing PCR, gene cloning, and DNA gel electrophoresis
- Preparing common lab reagents.
- Ordering, receiving, storing lab reagents and supplies, and maintaining inventories
Position Requirements
- Bachelors in a related science or equivalent skills and experience required. M.S. strongly preferred.
- 0-2 years experience required, 1 to 2 years in general lab work and cell culture a plus
- Background in Molecular Biology a plus
- Must be able to calculate concentrations and prepare reagents correctly
- Organizational skills, detailed oriented, record keeping, and initiative required
