Position Description
The Children's National Medical Center in DC is seeking a student to work as a researcher at their Center for Neuroscience Research. The laboratory carries out basic and translational research to investigate the impact of Perinatal Injury on Fetal and Neonatal Brain Development. The overall mission of their research laboratory is to maximize intellectual development and minimize neurological injury associated with congenital heart anomalies and their treatment using clinically-relevant experimental models of injury." -- Just keeping this here so I don't have to re-write it.

Responsibilities include: 

 

  • learning uniquely integrated research field in developmental neuroscience and pediatric cardiology/cardiac surgery
  • gaining experience in hands-on laboratory research
  • interacting with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and other interns
  • attending weekly luncheon/seminar presentations by members on specific research projects and cutting-edge research tools
  • improving presentation, writing, and communication skills

Position requirements: 

  • Strong interest in pursuing careers as physician-scientists focused on cellular/molecular mechanisms in biology

  • Highly motivated and focused

  • Experience in neuroscience a plus

Time Commitment 
Full-time, with a minimum commitment of two years.
