Position Description
The Division of Thoracic Surgery at the Stanford University School of Medicine is seeking a post-graduate student to join their team as a Research Assistant/Lab Assistant III.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting translational research and quality assurance activities within the division
  • Collecting and organizing tissue specimens in the operating room
  • Collecting, entering, and retrieving patient data for the clinical database
  • Preparing, apportioning, labeling, and transporting tissue to the various laboratories
  • Completing correlative studies and quality assurance activities utilizing information learned from analysis of these tissues in the laboratory
  • Gathering demographic and clinical data from patient charts and entering the information into the database
  • Liaising with database vendors contact to coordinate specific changes/enhancement to the database
  • Providing technical support for the Thoracic Surgical attending and research staff on database related issues

Position Requirements

  • Knowledge of PC Word processing and clinical database software
  • Basic knowledge of human anatomy and medicine a plus
  • Solid wet laboratory skills with ability to examine, cut, and freeze tissue specimens

Time Commitment
Full-time with a minimum commitment of 2 years.
