Position Description
The Division of Rheumatology at the Hospital for Special Surgery is seeking a research assistant to work with Dr. Anne R. Bass on studies of autoimmune side effects of cancer immunotherapy and rheumatoid arthritis.
Responsibilities include:
- Identifying, screening, recruiting, obtaining consent from patients for participation in research studies
- Administering questionnaires, interviews in person, by mail, and/or by phone
- Coordinating patient visits, ensuring protocol compliance
- Preparing and submitting study related materials to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for regulatory approvals
- Regularly reporting on progress towards milestones
- Organizing and maintaining all files and documents related to specific projects
- Designing/maintaining databases, data collection forms, source documents, patient files
- Collecting, processing, storing, shipping blood/tissue/microbiome specimens (phlebotomy training provided as applicable)
- Preparing and submitting abstracts, manuscripts and presentations to disseminate study results/progress
- Assisting in grant documents/submissions
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Clinical research experience a plus
- Facility with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Endnote
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong time management, and organizational skills
- Ability to use tact, discretion, and sound judgment when dealing with confidential information
Time Commitment
Full-time. 12 month commitment required, 24 months preferred. Starting May 2022.
