Position Description
McLean Hospital's Division of Alcohol, Drugs, and Addiction is seeking a research assistant for a project under the direction of Roger Weiss, M.D., a PI of the New England Consortium Node of the NIDA Clinical Trials Network (CTN). They are currently leading a major multi-site CTN trial focused on treatment of opioid use disorder.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing assistance on clinical research studies as per study guidelines and protocols
- Recruiting and evaluating potential study patients
- Conducting in-person or telephone interviews or schedules patient for study visit and screening
- Performing clinical tests such taking vital signs, urine screens, etc.
- Interacting with patients/subjects with regard to study, including patient education, procedural instruction, patient interviews, and follow-up
- Serving as a liaison between patient and physician and other clinical staff
- Collecting data and maintaining patient information database for study
- Inputing data, performing analysis and running various reports
- Maintaining patients records
- Performing literature searches and preparing slides for scientific presentation
- Communicating various study information or packets to study participants
- Answering all inquiries regarding study protocol
- Referring participants when appropriate to supervisor or clinical staff
- Monitoring and setting up any needed equipment
- Maintaining inventory and ordering supplies when necessary
Position Requirements
- B.A. or B.S.
- Knowledge of clinical research protocols
- Knowledge of computer programs, databases, etc
