Full-time, Paid, Research Assistant, Pediatrics

Position Description
The Cohen Children's Medical Center in the Northwell Hospital is seeking a research assistant to assist with the group's primary goal of promoting the health and well-being of children and families in communities throughout Queens and Long Island. Their work falls into multiple domains including clinical medicine, clinical research, quality improvement, medical education, health policy, and administration. The RA will be an integral member of the Department of Pediatrics team and will participate in all components of projects. The RA will also have the opportunity to attend relevant trainings and conferences on pediatrics, obesity prevention, and/or breastfeeding promotion and support. The position is intended for individuals planning to apply to graduate or medical school. Please apply no later than January 30, 2020. 

Responsibilities Include

  • Contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of pediatric obesity and breastfeeding promotion initiatives at multiple community-based practice sites 
  • Providing administrative support to the team, including scheduling and preparing for meetings, trainings, and presentations
  • Working with local organizations to provide affordable and accessible community resources for families
  • Completing frequent site evaluations to monitor progress and outcome measures
  • Drafting and editing grant proposals, research study manuscripts, and newsletter articles, or presentations as the arise such as American Academy of Pediatrics policy statements, Grand Rounds, physician maintenance of certification, meetings, pediatric online resources, and more
  • Taking lead in managing all facets of clinical studies, including but not limited to creating surveys and study materials through REDCap, recruiting and enrolling patients, communicating with study sponsors, taking the lead a sponsor visits, managing regulatory documents, and keeping up-to-date on all IRB (Institutional Review Board) documents and communication
  • Managing various administrative, clinical, and project responsibilities as they arise. The RA will be expected to learn how to fulfill them with the initial guidance and support of Dr. Bernstein and current RAs.

Position Requirements

  • Access to a car and a valid driver's license, a plus. 
  • Previous research experience and Spanish proficiency, a plus

Time Commitment
Full-time, with a minimum of a 1-commitment.
