Position Description
Dr. Cameron Carter's Translational Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience (TCAN) laboratory at the University of California, Davis is seeking a research assistant.
Responsibilities include:
- Recruiting research participants
- Conducting phone evaluations to determine study eligibility of potential participants
- Consenting study participants, scheduling all of their research appointments, and monitoring progress through the study procedures
- Conducting clinical interviews for research purposes under the supervision of a faculty member
- Conducting behavioral testing sessions and MRI scan sessions
- Managing study IRB protocols, adhering strictly to privacy and confidentiality laws
- Managing data collection and organization, including mentoring undergraduate volunteers in the input of data to multiple databases
- Participating in weekly lab meetings, journal club presentations, presentations from outside speakers, and weekly workshops to help RAs develop their career goals
- Contributing to writing and review of relevant manuscripts
- Participating in appropriate professional/technical societies or groups, such as our weekly career development group and other educational and research organizations
- Reviewing research proposals, journal manuscripts, and publications related to area of expertise
Position Requirements
- Degree in psychology, psychobiology, neuroscience, computer science or a related field
- Experience collecting and organizing data
- Scheduling and/or calendaring experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple work demands simultaneously
- Previous experience working with adolescents and young adults with psychiatric disorders is a plus
- Fluency in Spanish (oral & written) is a plus
- Previous experience collecting and/or analyzing MRI data is a plus
- Computer programming experience (e.g. R, python, Matlab, Unix shell) is a plus
Time Commitment
Full-time, with a minimum one-year commitment
Compensation
$44,500 - $47,400 annual salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience
