Position Description
Dr. Cameron Carter's Translational Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience (TCAN) laboratory at the University of California, Davis is seeking a research assistant.

Responsibilities include:

  • Recruiting research participants
  • Conducting phone evaluations to determine study eligibility of potential participants
  • Consenting study participants, scheduling all of their research appointments, and monitoring progress through the study procedures
  • Conducting clinical interviews for research purposes under the supervision of a faculty member
  • Conducting behavioral testing sessions and MRI scan sessions
  • Managing study IRB protocols, adhering strictly to privacy and confidentiality laws
  • Managing data collection and organization, including mentoring undergraduate volunteers in the input of data to multiple databases
  • Participating in weekly lab meetings, journal club presentations, presentations from outside speakers, and weekly workshops to help RAs develop their career goals
  • Contributing to writing and review of relevant manuscripts
  • Participating in appropriate professional/technical societies or groups, such as our weekly career development group and other educational and research organizations
  • Reviewing research proposals, journal manuscripts, and publications related to area of expertise

Position Requirements

  • Degree in psychology, psychobiology, neuroscience, computer science or a related field
  • Experience collecting and organizing data
  • Scheduling and/or calendaring experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple work demands simultaneously
  • Previous experience working with adolescents and young adults with psychiatric disorders is a plus
  • Fluency in Spanish (oral & written) is a plus
  • Previous experience collecting and/or analyzing MRI data is a plus
  • Computer programming experience (e.g. R, python, Matlab, Unix shell) is a plus

Time Commitment
Full-time, with a minimum one-year commitment

Compensation
$44,500 - $47,400 annual salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience
