Position Description
Dr. Teena Shetty, a neurologist at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Assistant Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College, is looking for a full-time Research Assistant to work in the Neurology Department at HSS.
The successful applicant would be involved in a number of concussion-related research projects, including research studies from Marker AG and a new EEG study. This position will provide the opportunity to gain research experience, work directly with patients, and become exposed to daily life at a highly regarded teaching hospital. Research Assistants will also have the opportunity to work closely with a multidisciplinary concussion team and gain experience in an important area of scientific advancement as well as potentially be involved in the publication of journal articles.
Responsibilities include:
- Screening and recruiting patients into clinical trials
- Consenting patients who are interested in participating in research
- Administering neurocognitive assessments to concussion patients
- Scheduling patients visits and follow-ups
- Coordinating with research sponsors and other sites for multi-center studies
- Editing and preparing manuscripts
- Writing and updating IRB protocols
- Assisting in the preparation of research presentations
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in arts or science (BA or BS)
- A strong interest in medicine and gaining skills in clinical research and direct patient contact a plus
- Familiarity with clinical data and statistical analysis a plus
Time Commitment
Full-time, with a two-year commitment.
