Position Description
The Weil Cornell Medical College Department of Medicine and Department of Psychiatry are seeking a research assistant who will support a current research program that works at the intersection of infectious diseases and substance use within the Substance Use and Stigma of Addiction Program

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting research with persons who are living with substance use disorders including those with justice involvement
  • Performing recruitment
  • Conducting the informed consent process
  • Conducting interviews for study assessments
  • Collecting biologic specimens (e.g., urine)
  • Assuring retention, data collection and entry into databases, and quality assurance
  • Assisting other project staff with recruitment and community outreach, data management, amendments of project manuals, IRB submissions, and other tasks.

Position Requirements

  • Have experience with, or willing to learn, research skills including how to conduct study interviews, including standardized measures of substance use and HIV medication adherence and collection of biological specimens
  • Willing to work with people living with HIV or other infectious diseases and/or substance use disorders
  • Ability to communicate with and build relationships with hospital staff and clinicians, community partners and other agencies.
  • Ability to work effectively with people of different backgrounds and levels of education.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills including the ability to be non-judgmental in all interactions.
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule and prioritize work appropriately. May require some weekend and evening hours.

Time Commitment
Full-time, 37.5 hours per week with a one-year minimum commitment.
