Position Description
The Division of Gastroenterology at the The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking a patient navigator to oversee a caseload of patients, acting as the primary liaison between the patient and scheduling and completing their colonoscopy. The lab, directed by Lina Jandorf, is focused on helping to reduce cancer-related health disparities

Responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling direct access colonoscopies that are referred to the CHOICE screening program
  • Contacting patients to schedule colonoscopy
  • Working to establish a relationship with the patient
  • Reminding patient about the need for COVID testing prior to the procedure
  • Confirming that the patient is willing to do both the COVID test and the colonoscopy.
  • Answering any questions/issues
  • Providing comfort to patient anxieties
  • Providing patient with instructions on prep for procedure, need for transportation and escort
  • Scheduling he procedure
  • Providing ongoing navigation – reminder phone calls; addition review regarding COVID testing, the prep, escort, etc.
  • Tracking all encounters in the tracking database

Requirements

  • Flexible work schedule – will need to work at least 2 evenings and some Saturdays
  • Experience with Excel and other computer software
  • Bachelor's degree or 3 years relevant experience
  • Excellent communication and telephone skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus 

Time Commitment
Full-time, some evening and weekend hours.
