Position Description
The Interventional Pain Management Office of Dr. Mathew Lefowitz, MD, is seeking a medical assistants to assist in their private practice. Medical assistants will work directly with the doctor, administrative staff, and patients. Assistants learn to take an accurate and thorough history, assess vital signs, and assist with various interventional pain management procedures. By interacting directly with patients, assistants learn about anatomy, symptomatology, and pharmacology as related to pain medicine and management. Assistants also become familiar with the electronic health system and how technology integrates with patient-care.
Responsibilities Include
- Organizing patient appointments
- Assisting with chart notes
- Acting a liaison with other doctors and healthcare professionals
- Helping manage varied facets of insurances
Position Requirements
- Must have a bachelor’s degree and the successful completion of premedical coursework or a post-baccalaureate premedical program
- Must have an intention to matriculate into medical school in/after Fall 2021
- Must be vaccinated before flu season
- Ability to speak Spanish, a plus
- NYC local, a plus
