Position Description 
Jalal Ahmed Khan MD/PhD and Miriam Merad MD/PhD are seeking a research technician to work in their laboratory that seeks to advance cell therapies for solid tumors. The successful candidate will learn advanced topics in oncology and immunotherapy, and become proficient in state-of-the-art techniques in applied immunology and cellular engineering (namely, chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy, CRISPR/Cas9-based functional screens, mouse models, genetics, in vivo tracking of cells using bioluminescence, and cytometry). The ideal candidate will actively seek to understand the science behind the experiments, take ownership of their work, and present at meetings and conferences. This position is ideal for students in their glide year.

The Precision Immunology Institute at Mount Sinai (PrIISM) and the Tisch Cancer Institute (an NCI-designated cancer center) initiated the Cancer Immunology Program at Mount Sinai to advance biomedical research and science education towards the betterment of patients afflicted with cancer. They empower exceptional scientists and students to use state-of-the-art technologies to pursue fundamental questions in emerging areas of cancer immunotherapy and anti-tumor immunity. 

Position Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences and/or coursework in molecular and cell biology
  • At least one year of experience in a life sciences laboratory
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member, and learn complex tasks with general instruction

Time Commitment
Full-time, with a commitment of two years
