Position Description
The Division of Rheumatology at the Hospital for Special Surgery is seeking an education research assistant to help coordinate multi-institutional education programs for medical students, residents and fellows at HSS, New York Presbyterian Medical Center, and Weill Cornell Medicine.

Responsibilities include:

  • Helping to coordinate multi-institutional education programs for medical students, residents and fellows at HSS, New York Presbyterian Medical Center, and Weill Cornell Medicine
  • Working with the Rheumatology Assistant Program Director to prepare and coordinate the yearly Rheumatology Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (ROSCE)
  • Assisting in fellows’ annual Quality Improvement studies
  • Functioning as the primary coordinator for CLASS-Rheum, a national internet-based epidemiology curriculum for rheumatology fellows, based at Hospital for Special Surgery
  • Screening patients to determine eligibility for studies
  • Sending out letters or phone calls to study subjects inviting them to participate in studies
  • Administering questionnaires to study subjects in person, by mail or by phone
  • Acting as a resource for study subjects regarding study consent forms
  • Acting as a liaison between physicians, physicians’ office staff and study participants
  • Coordinating study subjects visits with physician schedules
  • Being a contact for study subjects regarding questions about study protocols
  • Meeting with patients at the hospital to conduct research studies
  • Setting up and maintaining electronic databases and creating electronic data collection forms, e.g. REDCap
  • Performing data entry 
  • Working with study teams to organize data and conduct data analysis
  • Organizing and maintaining all studies’ paperwork
  • Submitting new studies and amendments in both the HSS and Weill Cornell IRB systems for Education studies
  • Submitting abstracts to academic meetings to disseminate study results
  • Assisting in grant preparation and submission
  • Helping to create poster and slide presentations of study results
  • Maintaining/ compiling curricular materials for residency training in rheumatology
  • Acting as the administrator for Fellows’ Epidemiology Journal Club
  • Enrolling trainees and primary care providers nationwide into HSS educational courses on a weekly basis
  • Building and testing educational courses in eAcademy, the HSS sponsored educational platform
  • Generating enrollment, completion, and accuracy results from learner data in eAcademy

Position Requirements

  • Computer literate: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, data entry
  • Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Must be available on site at the hospital during study visits as well as for all educational programs for which the assistant is responsible

Time Commitment
Full-time, 40 hours per week.12 month commitment required; 24 preferred. 

Compensation
$42K
