Position Description
The Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) to join their growing intensive care unit (ICU) research group.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing data extraction from medical records for clinical trials and cohort studies
  • Performing bedside data collection for critically ill adult patients, including from COVID-19 (Proper personal protective equipment will be provided)
  • Coordinating consent approach for studies
  • Conducting long-term follow-up phone questionnaires of study participants
  • Performing phlebotomy to obtain research blood samples
  • Assisting with performing protein biomarker measurements with ELISA and multi-analyte platforms under supervision of the research laboratory manager
  • Receiving, labeling, processing, and logging unique and irreplaceable human blood, airway, and urine samples
  • Traveling via shuttle to our affiliate hospital, Allen Hospital, to retrieve and transport samples of enrolled participants
  • Performing additional related duties as needed

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training and experience, plus two years of related experience
  • Prior experience working with patients in a hospital setting
  • Ability to work with critically ill adult patients on life support
  • Ability to handle COVID-19 biospecimens, using proper personal protective equipment, in a BSL2+ laboratory, with training and supervision
  • Familiarity with common medical terminology
  • Prior clinical or research experience involving hospitalized patients, particularly those with critical illness is a plus
  • Previous experience with the Epic electronic health record is a plus

Time Commitment
Full-time, 35 hours per week.
