Position Description
The Division of Infectious Diseases at UCSF Medical Center is hiring a clinical research coordinator for the San Francisco site of the nationwide MACS/WIHS Combined Cohort Study (MWCCS), the largest longitudinal study of HIV in the United States.

Responsibilities include:

  • Executing, managing, and coordinating multiple clinical research protocols within the MWCCS - a collaborative, multi-center, longitudinal study designed to comprehensively investigate the impact of chronic health conditions that affect people with HIV
  • Coordinating the data collection and operations of several concurrent clinical research studies under the guidelines of research protocols, UCSF, and regulating agency policies
  • Recruiting and screening new enrollees
  • Overseeing data and specimen collection
  • Coordinating work schedules with other staff
  • Assisting with Investigator’s protocols in the Committee on Human Research online system
  • Assisting with renewals and modifications of protocol applications and the implementation of new studies
  • Assuring compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies
  • Overseeing study data integrity
  • Implementing and maintaining periodic quality control procedures
  • Reporting study progress to investigators
  • Participating in any internal and external audits or reviews of study protocols

Position Requirements

  • HS graduation and sufficient experience and demonstrated skills to successfully perform the assigned duties and responsibilities; and/or equivalent experience/training
  • Attention to detail; strong interpersonal skills; excellent, effective verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with subjects, team members, other departments and outside institutions; and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while working with a diverse subject population
  • Ability to work well independently, complete projects in a timely manner, and prioritize multiple projects to ensure the completion of essential tasks by deadlines
  • BA/BS and a minimum of 2 years of related research or work experience in public health, epidemiology, health promotion, social sciences, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience a plus
  • Certified Phlebotomist (CPT-1) a plus
  • Spanish fluency a plus
  • Previous experience in HIV-related clinical research and the ability to adhere to structured protocols a plus
  • Fluency in the usage of Committee of Human Research (CHR) online iMEDris system for submission, renewal, and modification of protocols through this system a plus
  • Certification by the Society of Clinical Research Associates or the Association of Clinical Research Professionals a plus
  • Experience with electronic medical records a plus
  • Knowledge of UCSF and departmental policies for dealing with reimbursement, guidelines for research, confidentiality and HIPPA regulations, following the UCSF mission statement and purpose for research, and a clear understanding of policies and procedures on patient safety and confidentiality (electronic and hard copy medical records, patient charts, communication, etc.); knowledge of medical terminology, research policies and guidelines, guidelines for packing/shipping infectious substances, database building/analysis, and data management a plus

Time Commitment
Full-time, Mon. - Fri., 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Two-year commitment preferred.
