Position Description
The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) seeks four undergraduate Columbia University students to serve as consultants as part of the CTL’s Students as Pedagogical Partners (SAPP) initiative which launched in Spring 2020.

These paid part-time positions offer students the opportunity to share their experiences and insights as learners in Columbia classrooms, and transform the culture of teaching and learning.

The undergraduate student consultant partners with CTL staff to engage in various CTL projects and programming, such as creating on-demand resources for Columbia faculty on in-person instruction and other relevant teaching and learning topics (e.g., inclusive teaching and learning, academic integrity, use of educational technology in the Columbia classroom, etc.), participating in student panel discussion sessions with faculty, and supporting CTL initiatives (e.g.,
Thank-A-Professor | Thank-a-TA initiative, the Dead Ideas in Teaching and Learning Podcast series, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Share insights and perspectives about being a Columbia learner.
  • Meet/check-in with CTL staff and other student consultants during the semester.
  • Respond to “Ask a student!” inquiries.
  • Participate in student-faculty discussions on the teaching and learning at Columbia.
  • Collaborate with CTL staff and other student consultants on SAPP offerings.
  • Co-create on-demand resources (see the SAPP website for examples of resources).
  • Recruit peers to share their perspectives and contribute to on-demand resources.
  • Other responsibilities as applicable (e.g., sharing learning insights during the annual Celebration for Teaching and Learning Symposium).

Eligibility
Students in their sophomore, junior, or senior year.

Time Commitment
Up to 6 hours per week across a semester.

Compensation
$15 per hour
