Columbia Dining Services maintains 13 dining facilities conveniently located on campus. Each location accepts cash, and 12 locations accept Dining Dollars and Flex for quick cashless transactions. Dining Dollars allow you to create a tax-free declining balance account for food and beverage purchases. A Flex Account is a similar, although not tax-free, account that can be used at the University Bookstore, select vending machines, the self-service copiers in the libraries, and on-campus laundry facilities, in addition to 12 on-campus dining locations. You can sign up for Dining Dollars and/or a Flex Account online at https://ssol.columbia.edu, in person at 118 Hartley Hall or 204 Kent Hall, or with a cashier at any on-campus dining location.
DINING PLANS
The University offers four dining plans for upperclass, graduate and General Studies students, each consisting of all-you-care-to-eat meals served in John Jay Dining Hall. Each plan includes brunch and dinner every day. All meals are accessed by University ID card and billed to the Columbia student account. Meals roll over from the fall term to spring term; however they will expire at the end of the academic year. Meal amounts and costs are as follows:
PLAN A: 150 meals per term, $3,386 per year
PLAN B: 75 meals per term, $1,770 per year
PLAN C: 45 meals per term, $1,174 per year
PLAN D: 30 meals per term, $850 per year
We also offer a kosher dining plan option to any student who participates in an upperclass, General Studies, or graduate student meal plan. Participation allows students access to a restricted kosher area within John Jay Dining Hall for an additional 10% cost of the selected plan.
LOCATIONS
John Jay Dining Room: located on the first floor of John Jay Hall, serves an all-you-care-to-eat breakfast, brunch and dinner. A wide selection of food favorites, from made-to-order omelets to a daily salad bar to themed items like French basa meunier, Korean bulgogi, and Indian chicken vindaloo are available daily. Kosher, Halal, vegan, and vegetarian dining options are also available.
JJ'S Place: located on the lower level of John Jay Hall; offers a combination of convenience store items, a grill and snack bar.
Ferris Booth Commons: located on the 3rd and 4th floors of Alfred Lerner Hall; a European-style marketplace offering Indian curry, pizza, pasta, sushi, gourmet salads, sandwiches, and soup.
Café 212: located on the main level of Alfred Lerner Hall; serves coffee, pastries, and hot breakfast items in the morning, then fresh-tossed salads, deli sandwiches and carry out snacks and beverages in the afternoon and evening.
Café East: located on the main level of Alfred Lerner Hall; offers bubble teas, fruit smoothies, milkshakes, and a selection of tasty dumplings.
Carleton Lounge: located on the 1st floor of the Mudd Building; offers hot entrées and an extensive salad bar, along with soups and deli sandwiches.
Lenfest Café: located on the second floor of the Law School; offers, daily specials from the grill, and a complete coffee and espresso bar with grab-n-go options.
Uris Deli: located on the first floor of Uris Hall; offers NY deli-style sandwiches, salads, soup and a large variety of beverages and snacks. Cash only.
The Kosher Deli: located on the main level of John Jay Hall; the only all-kosher retail dining location serving sandwiches, salads, snacks and beverages to go.
Blue Java Coffee Bars: 4 locations in Butler Library, Dodge Hall, Social Work, and John Jay Lobby (express location); serving fair trade and organic gourmet coffee and espresso beverages, along with carry-out sandwiches, salads, snacks and a wide assortment of fresh baked pastries, muffins, bagels, and sweets.
Tasti D-Lite: located on the fourth floor of Lerner Hall; Tasti D-Lite is a beloved Manhattan institution serving guilt-free, all-natural frozen treats. With over 100 flavors (4 different ones to choose from each day) and at only 10 calories per ounce, this is sure to become a popular stop-off for anyone in Lerner Hall.
